HOW
DO I...
REGISTER
WITH THE PRACTICE?
All new patients will be asked to
complete a brief health questionnaire and attend the health centre for a health
check before final registration. This consultation gives us the opportunity to
meet you and your family and to tell you about our practice.
HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
All consultations are by appointment
and are available between 8.30am - 6.00pm on weekdays. In line with government
guidelines a proportion of our appointments can only be booked on the day. This
reduces waiting times but it does also mean that, particularly for acute or new
problems, you may have to see another doctor if the GP you usually see is busy
or unavailable.
We also have appointments on early mornings and late night surgeries; they are as follows:
Monday morning 7.00 till 8.00am
Wednesday morning 7.00 till 8.00am
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6.00 till 6.30pm.
This is to enable patients that work late to access appointments at the surgery.
When you phone or call at the
desk you will usually be asked a few simple questions by the receptionist. These
are not meant to be intrusive, but they help us to help you by directing you to
the appropriate health professional as quickly as possible. Your co-operation
will be appreciated.
To book a GP or nurse appointment by phone, please dial 384200. Remember, one appointment is for one patient only. We also have appointments on early morning and late night surgeries.
Cancellations
If for any reason you cannot keep
an appointment, please cancel it in good time so that it can be offered to someone
else. You can do this by telephoning on 384200.
Treatment Room
The treatment room is staffed by
the practice nurses and health care assistants. We cannot provide a walk-in centre
or accident and emergency service. An appointment system is run to alleviate patient
congestion.
Patients may also be referred to the nurse if they require their advice.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
Visits are entirely at the discretion
of the doctor and are only for patients who are truly housebound. A rash or temperature
does not prevent patients coming to the surgery and will not endanger others.
Just tell the receptionist on arrival.
If a home visit is necessary please contact the health centre before 10.00am;
this helps the doctors to plan their rounds efficiently. Any of the doctors may
visit.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
If tests are ordered for you at the
surgery please ask doctor or nurse about receiving the results. Unless told otherwise,
please give a full week from the day the test was done and then ring after 2.00pm.
Results of tests ordered elsewhere, eg DRI, will not automatically be passed to
us.
